
The Winn Parish School Board met in regular public session in the School Board office on Monday, January 6, 2020, at 5:30 p.m. with the following present: President Joe Llaine Long and Members Joe Lynn Browning, Michelle Carpenter, Patrick Howell, Durane Johnson, Todd Martin, and Michael Riffe. Absent: Harry Scott and Christy Harrell.
The invocation was given by Mr. Johnson.
Mr. Riffe led the pledge of allegiance to the American flag.

On a motion by Todd Martin and seconded by Matt Walton, Joe Lynn Browning was elected as President of the Winn Parish School Board.
Superintendent, Steve Bartlett spoke a few words thanking the outgoing president, Joe Llaine Long for her service and presented her with a commemorative gavel.
On a motion by Matt Walton and seconded by Joe Llaine Long, Todd Martin was elected as Vice President of the Winn Parish School Board.
Executive Committees were formed.
On a motion by Matt Walton and seconded by Michelle Carpenter the Resolution establishing 2020 meeting dates as the first Monday of every month at 5:30 PM to be held at the WPSB office building was adopted. The only exception will be September 8, 2020.
On a motion by Joe Llaine Long and seconded by Michelle Carpenter the minutes from December 2, 2019 meeting were adopted.
On a motion by Matt Walton and seconded by Durane Johnson the Revised Winn Parish Student Fees, Fines and Charges Policy was adopted.
Superintendent, Steve Bartlett reviewed personnel information: Retirement: Jerewerline Dukentell – maid, WPS
Resignation: Stormie Coody – 4th Grade Teacher, WPS
New Employee: Dawn Thomisee – LPN, parish-wide
The WPSB will begin interviewing four applicants for the Special Education Supervisor for the parish on Monday. Three of the four applicants are current employees.
The General Fund Budget to Actual Report was reviewed with Matt Walton asking questions about the report.
Superintendent, Steve Bartlett commented on state testing preparations and announced the Student of the Year Reception on February 3, 2020, at 4:00 PM prior to the WPSB Meeting. Mr. Bartlett also reiterated Duran Johnson’s statements during the invocation regarding the Bostick family who lost one of their children this week.
