Winn Parish School Board to Provide Meals to Children During School Closure

In a special meeting of the Winn Parish School Board on Tuesday, March 17, 2020, it was announced that the school board will provide meals to children under the age of 18 during school closure due to the Coronavirus.

Starting Monday, March 23, 2020, parents will be able to drive to a designated feeding to receive a pre-packed breakfast and lunch meal for all children under the age of 18 between the hours of 9:30 AM – 11:00 AM. Both breakfast and lunch will be distributed at the same time. Families will not be permitted to exit their vehicles or enter school buildings as part of the site protocol.

Parents are not required to pick up meals at the school their child is enrolled in. Parents will not be required to verify that their children are enrolled in school. Children are not required to be present with parents when they pick up meals but it is recommended if possible. All children will be fed.

No meals will be distributed during Easter break April 6th – 13th.

The Winn Parish School Board asks all parents to please be patient with this process. It will take a few days to get the correct number of meals offered and served.
