Winn Parish voters headed to the polls to cast their ballots in the Presidential Preference Primary race on Saturday.
Louisiana has a closed primary which, means that only voters registered with a given party can vote in that party’s primary. This election year, that means only registered Democrats or Republicans got to vote as no other party had a presidential candidate.
In Winn Parish, Joseph R. Biden won the Democratic Presidential Nominee with 77% of the vote, and President Donald J. Trump won the Republican Presidential Nominee with 99% of the vote. Voter turnout in Winn Parish was low compared to the 2016 Presidential Primary, with only 14.5% of the 3,592 registered Democrats in Winn Parish voting and 23.3% of the 2,865 registered Republicans voting.
