Winn Detention Center Staff Recognized in National Correctional Officers Week

Sheriff Josh McAllister has recognized and commended the staff of the Winn Detention Center in conjunction with National Correctional Officers Week, May 4 through 10.

“Our correctional officers and detention center staff play a vital role in maintaining safety and security in our community,” said McAllister. “Their hard work, professionalism, and commitment to duty often go unseen, but it does not go unappreciated. This week, we recognize the sacrifices they make every day.”

National Correctional Officers Week, observed the first full week of May, was established in 1984 to honor the men and women who serve in correctional facilities across the country. These individuals work in challenging and often dangerous environments, ensuring the care, custody, and control of those in their charge.

McAllister expressed his gratitude to members of the detention center team.  “Thank you. Your dedication makes a difference not only within our facility but throughout Winn Parish” and encourages the public to show appreciation for their work year-round.
