Gena Harty Hatcher announces candidacy for Winn Parish School Board District 7

Gena Harty Hatcher, a veteran educator with more than three decades of experience in local classrooms, has announced her candidacy for the Winn Parish School Board District 7 seat.

Hatcher taught in the Winn Parish school system for 33 years prior to her retirement. She said her extensive time inside the classroom provides a clear understanding of both the immediate challenges facing local schools and the opportunities available to strengthen the district.

“I am seeking to serve District 7 as a positive voice for our students, faculty, parents, and community,” Hatcher said. “Every decision I make will be guided by one simple principle: putting students first while supporting the educators and families who help them succeed every day.”

A lifelong resident of the area, Hatcher is married to Kevin Hatcher. The couple has three children, all graduates of Winnfield Senior High School, and six grandchildren, four of whom are currently enrolled in Winn Parish public schools.

Hatcher emphasized that her campaign platform centers on open communication, collaborative decision-making, and prioritizing student outcomes while advocating for faculty and parents.

“With experience in the classroom and a lifelong commitment to Winn Parish, I understand the importance of listening, working together, and making decisions that are in the best interest of our children,” Hatcher said. “I would be honored to earn your support and your vote.”
