DHS Students in “School Spotlight” at Board’s March Meeting

Dodson High School Principal Wendy Miller and sponsor Casey Tolar stand with NASA TechRise Team members from the school make a presentation at the March 4 School Board
meeting.

Supt. Alfred Simmons tagged the “School Spotlight” portion of the monthly Winn Parish School Board meetings the “favorite part, the opportunity to hear the good things happening in our schools.”  The spotlight March 4 was on students at each Dodson and Calvin high schools.

Principal Wendy Miller reported enthusiastically that “there is no down time at Dodson High School. Academic performance still ranks Number One at our school along with the many activities and competitions our students stay involved in. We are so proud of our school and the many accomplishments our students have mastered.

“A few of our recent and upcoming events are: Junior Beta teams competed at State, eight students qualified for State Literary Rally with three being recognized as medal winners in Division 5, FBLA members anticipate state competition in late March, and Anna Worthington was a prizewinner in the NSU Science Department’s drone flying contest.

“WorkKeys continue to be successful with our Juniors and Seniors as we are striving for more Platinums. Spring sports have our community gathering at the fields. We encourage our citizens to support the athletes. We are proud of our Panthers and will continue to support their efforts throughout the school.”

She called “the real spotlights” at Monday’s meeting as the NASA TechRise Team sponsored by Mrs. Casey Tolar. The principal praised them for the hard work and dedication they have given to the project so far.  Watch the Journal soon for further details on the NASA project.
