In a Memorandum sent by Winn Parish School Board earlier this week all schools events, activities, practices and games are suspended until November 30, 2020 which ends the Winnfield Tiger’s 2020 football season.
“It’s heartbreaking for the seniors. Anytime a senior’s season is cut short, it’s just something they can never get back. The rest of the team will re-group and start working toward next year but those guys are hanging their cleats up for good and my heart goes out to them,” said Tiger’s Head Coach Jay Watson.
“As a Sr. Football players parent and former WSHS player it saddens me to the core to end this journey we started six years ago in this manner. We are thankful for at least having homecoming but we hate that we didn’t have Senior Night to honor these young men. We have many great memories and the season ending this way will be one of the not so great ones. But like I often say, once a Winnfield Tiger, always a Winnfield Tiger!” said Shannon Blake, father of Senior Rhett Blake.
The cancelation of the rest of the football season ends high school football for 14 seniors according to Coach Watson.
