On November 9th at 04:57 Hrs. the Winnfield Fire Department received a call for a residential house fire on Eric St. Engine 4, Engine 1, Ladder 1 and Chief 1 responded with 8 personnel. Fire chief arrived to find a 75% involved home involved with heavy fire and smoke and transmitted a second alarm. The home owner was able to get out due to early detection of her smoke detectors.
Fire fighter deployed front attack lines off of Engine 4 and established water supply luckily with there being a hydrant in the front yard. Fire fighters transitioned from offensive to defensive fire attacks and the top water monitor was used off of Engine 4 to finally extinguish the fire. Overhaul and salvage operations then started and the scene was determined safe. The fire dept personally knew the owners and our prayers go out to them in their recovery.
The Winnfield Fire Dept. would like to thank the Winnfield Police for assisting fire fighters.
This is also the third working fire the Winnfield Fire Dept. Has responded to in less then a month
The fire dept. would also like to encourage all citizens to PLEASE GET SMOKE DETECTORS if you don’t have them, and check the ones that you do have.
The Winnfield Fire Dept. has free ones at the station for any Winnfield citizens.
SMOKE DETECTORS SAVE LIVES!!!
