According to Winn Parish Police Jury President (WPPJ), Josh McAllister, the WPPJ is starting to take small steps to open the parish back up and get people back to work. “We aren’t defying the governor’s order; we are taking small steps to get our parish ready to open back up on May 15th. The governor himself loosened some restrictions on business, and we are interpreting that as it being okay for us to do the same, said McAllister.”
Effective Monday, May 4th, the WPPJ will re-open the Winn Parish Courthouse during regular business hours of 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. There will be restrictions and guidelines such as all visitors will be required to wear a mask or face covering when in the building ,and they suggest that if any business can be conducted by phone, fax, or email that it is done so.
“We were disappointed with the governor’s extension of the stay at home order but, we understand his decision. We have to take small steps to prepare for the 15th we’ve got to get people working while at the same time keeping people safe said, McAllister.”
Another small step the WPPJ is taking to prepare for May 15th is to have Winn Parish Library workers return to work on Monday to start cleaning and putting protocols in place to begin curbside service ,which they hope to begin providing soon.
