As of May 26, 2020, at 5:15 PM, the Winn Correctional Center (WCC) in Winnfield, LA, has 93 detainees that have tested positive for COVID-19, according to ice.gov. The website also states that there are no U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) employees working at WCC that have tested positive for the virus. It is important to note that most people working at WCC do not work directly for ICE but instead are employed by the Winn Parish Sheriff’s Office (WPSO). Therefore the total number of employees that have tested positive for the virus is unknown as neither ICE nor WPSO has released any statistics for guards.
