The biggest fundraiser for the local 4-H programs will be celebrated this Saturday night, July 15, when the Winn 4-H Outdoor Skills Banquet is held in the Winnfield Civic Center.
“Yes, it’s still called the ‘Outdoor Skills’ banquet because that’s how it started in the beginning,” explained county agent Donny Moon. “But the banquet has grown through the years and it’s now a key money source for all of our 4-H programs.”
Activities at the Civic Center will get under way with a social time beginning at 5 p.m. Dinner will begin at 6:30. Inside, participants will enjoy a dinner, a silent auction, live auction, cake auction, drawings for prizes and games as well as fellowship with supporters of the many available programs for local youth and children.
Tickets may be purchased in advance or at the door. Individual cost is $35 or $60 per couple. Sponsor or “Bucket Tables” for 8 are available for $350 and include tickets for various prizes at the event.
“The main thing I want people to know,” said Moon, “is how much we appreciate the support they have shown this 4-H program over the years. It means a lot to our kids.”
