Despite the sweltering summer heat, the start of a new school year is right around the corner for students in Winn Parish. All public school students are scheduled to return to class on Thursday, Aug. 7, for a half-day session.

Ahead of the first day, families are encouraged to attend their school’s Open House event to meet administrators, tour campuses, and prepare for the upcoming year. The Open House schedule begins Friday, Aug. 1.

Open House Events:

Winnfield Middle School (5th Grade): Friday, Aug. 1, from 10 a.m. to noon

Calvin High School: Tuesday, Aug. 5, beginning at 5 p.m.

Dodson High School: Tuesday, Aug. 5, beginning at 5 p.m.

Winn Primary School: Tuesday, Aug. 5, beginning at 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Winnfield Middle School (6th–8th Grades): Tuesday, Aug. 5, beginning at 5 p.m.

Winnfield Senior High School: Tuesday, Aug. 5, beginning at 5:30 p.m.
