My name is Lacey Gorham McManus and I am proud to announce my candidacy for Winn Parish District 1 School Board Member. I am a graduate of Winnfield Senior High School and I received a Baccalaureate Degree from LSU Health Sciences. I currently work in Winnfield at Winn Family Medicine as a Physician Assistant. My husband, Trey McManus, and I are raising our children in Winnfield where all three of them attend Winn Parish schools, and they are very active in school and community sports and other activities. I have been honored to serve a short term in the District 1 School Board member position since February 2022 and would consider it a duty and an honor to serve the parents and students of Winn Parish District 1 for another term.
My goal as a school board member is to address the issues relevant to my district’s constituents to help make Winn Parish a great place to raise a family while preparing students for their careers or continued education. I strive to relay the valid concerns of parents and students to our school board and bring change to improve the educational system for our children. I pledge personal responsibility for the resources and responsibility entrusted to the school board and I look forward to finding creative ways for taxpayer money to be spent efficiently and effectively and not wasted.
There are many great things going on in our school system, but there are also a lot of things that need our attention and work. With tightening budgets, less students in our schools, and more demands from our state government, we expect to make some hard decisions and sacrifices- but we can be even greater because of these things! Your school board wants to make the best decisions for its parish citizens, but we need your support. District 1, I ask that you consider voting for me to continue on as your school board member and, if elected, please continue to contact me and support me throughout the term.
Thank you, and God bless!
