Tuesday afternoon, February 27, the Winn Parish Fire District #3 was dispatched to a report of a woods fire near the Henry Sanders Road, according to Chief Dustin Parker.

Upon arrival, firefighters observed a large fire located deep in pine plantations off of the Henry Sanders Road. The LA Department of Agriculture & Forestry was requested and units staged near an oil reservoir.

As the incident progressed, firefighters repositioned at the residence nearest the fire for exposure protection. LDAF also requested additional resources placing their total plows on location at 9 p.m. In total the fire spanned 142 acres.
