The Goldonna Police truck is now official! Blue lights and all. Everyone with a heavy foot may want to consider Weight Watchers for feet!
Mayor Jennifer Smith and School Board Member Eugene Garner are looking for sponsors who will donate $100 towards a raffle for Goldonna Elementary Junior High students who bring up their state testing scores. Each child who increases will get their name entered into the drawing. The higher the score, the more chances one child receives. They are trying to spark competition and incentives to achieve their highest score ever.
The Village of Goldonna will be hosting a community clean up with more details to be released soon.
There is something very special about a community that comes together to enjoy fellowship with each other and serve the people. Sunday, April 10th, is the Christmas in the Park’s first fundraiser for the 2022 Event that will happen in mid-December.
The fishermen for the event are Eugene Garner, Terry Garner, Rodger Garner, and Roy Dupree. They are all ready to show off their meticulous cooking skills! There will also be an Easter Egg Hunt for the children. The committee will be asking local churches and volunteers for meal items and eggs for the children. As of today, they are looking for donations of three boxes of 4.5 gallon size cooking oil if anyone would like to donate to this worthy cause. It is extremely hard to fry fish without the oil! Please contact the Mayor if you are interested in donating.
The Village would like to thank Gayle Cloud, Key’s Grocery, Lakewood Inn, River of Life Church, Goldonna Assembly and Goldonna Baptist church for their donations that help make this event possible.
The Spring Fish Fry will also have photo ops with none other than the Easter Bunny himself. There will also be a scavenger hunt for the older children. Dinners are $9 each and include fish, fries, coleslaw, hush puppies, dessert and a drink. Orders of 8 or more can be delivered. Please contact the Mayor or Aldermen for tickets for this family friendly event.
Goldonna Baptist Church will host special guests, The Southern Plainsmen Quartet on Sunday, April 10, at 11:00 am. The Southern Plainsmen have been a favorite on the Gospel circuit since 1978 and their fan base continues to grow. The church welcomes all guests from all denominations.
