Dr. Bill Gaddis, Secretary-Treasurer of the Winnfield Kiwanis, attended the 104th Annual Convention of the Louisiana-Mississippi-West Tennessee District of Kiwanis International in Baton Rouge August 5 – 7, 2022. There are 22 divisions in our district and 113 active clubs. This convention was important because it honored the retirement of Charlie Ford, who served 46 years as the District Secretary, the longest service in the nation. There were many dignitaries from Kiwanis International including the International President Designate Bert West and President Elect Katrina Baranko. The Executive Director of Kiwanis International Stan Soderstrom was also present. The Charlie Ford Medallion debuted at the convention and he received the first one. Monies from purchasing this medallion will go the the District Foundation.
Dr. Gaddis is the Past District Officers Chairman and he was in charge of their meeting and a breakfast. The Governors from Circle K (college) and Key Club (high school) were also present. There was a gift basket raffle to benefit the Foundation and Dr. Gaddis won a basket. He attended 3 workshops including Two for Two on membership, Strengthening club to make it more inviting, and What is your club doing for service projects. The Winnfield club has one of the longest running Terrific Kid programs.
Awards were given for Lawman of the Year, Teacher of the Year and Firefighter of the Year.
