District Attorney Chris Nevils Reports the Following Action was Taken in Eighth Judicial District Court on May 6, 2020, Through Virtual Proceedings

BERNARD TATE, JR.: Defendant entered guilty plea speeding, possession of alcoholic beverages in motor vehicle first offense & possession of a schedule I controlled dangerous substance. Defendant sentenced to time served concurrently.

District Attorney Chris Nevils reports the following action was taken in Eighth Judicial District Court on May 13, 2020, through virtual proceedings.

MICHAEL EDWARD EDMONDS, JR.: Defendant entered guilty plea introducing or possessing contraband in any municipal parish prison or jail. Defendant sentenced to time served since arrest on this charge.

NICK MARRIK GOLD: Defendant entered guilty plea battery of a correctional facility employee by inmate. Defendant sentenced to time served since arrest on this charge.

JOSHUA L. LACOUR: Defendant entered alford plea aggravated assault with a firearm. Defendant sentenced to serve four years hard labor Louisiana Department Public Safety and Corrections. Execution of four year jail sentence suspended defendant placed on two years supervised probation with Louisiana Department of Public Safety and Corrections. Defendant ordered to pay fine, court cost, fee to Office of Public Defender and probation fee. Defendant ordered to perform sixteen hours community service.

TODD WAYNE SMITH: Defendant entered guilty plea simple criminal damage to property valued at $1000.00 or more but under $50,000.00. Defendant sentenced to time served since arrest on this charge.

DAMON W. SPRUELL: Defendant entered guilty plea possession of SCH II controlled dangerous substance: methamphetamine. Defendant sentenced to time served since arrest on this charge.

COURTNEY MEASHAE WEAVER: Defendant entered guilty plea simple arson. Defendant sentenced to serve five years hard labor Louisiana Department of Public Safety and Corrections. Execution of five year jail sentence suspended defendant placed on three years supervised probation with Louisiana Department of Public Safety and Corrections. Defendant ordered to pay fine, court cost, restitution and fee to Office of Public Safety and Corrections. Defendant ordered to perform sixteen hours court approved community service.

EDWARD D. POWELL: Defendant entered guilty plea criminal conspiracy to introducing or possessing contraband in any municipal or parish prison or jail. Defendant sentenced to time served since arrest. Defendant ordered to pay fine.

Defendant sentenced to serve five years hard labor Louisiana Department of Public Safety and Corrections. Execution of five year jail sentence suspended defendant placed on four years supervised probation Louisiana Department of Public Safety and Corrections. Defendant ordered to pay fine, court cost, fee to Office of Public Defender and probation fee. Defendant ordered to perform sixteen hours community service and complete court approved drug and substance abuse program.
