Congregation of 300 Gathers Around Flagpole in Prayer for Nation

Monday evening, a group of about 300 people gathered in the Flag Park by the Farmers Market in Winnfield to pray for our nation, for the Nation of Israel, our state and for our parish.

Organizer Rev. Author Robinson emphasized that on the eve of the National Election, the prayer was not for a Democratic or Republican victory but rather for Christ Jesus, the He be recognized as being in control of all things and that we as a nation turn back in revival to God as we were at our founding.

Observed one, “That night, we gathered for a heartfelt prayer. Together, we united in fellowship, lifting up our children, their future, and the leadership in our community. We prayed over our churches, schools, country, and nation, asking for peace, wisdom, and for God’s hand in upcoming elections and peace in the Middle East. We trust that God is in control.”

The congregation there at the park was not just preachers, though there were plenty of them on hand.  Recognized were educators, law enforcement, first responders, elected officials, medical personnel, children, farmers, loggers, workers and housewives.  Folks from neighboring parishes were there as well.

Following introductions by Rev. Robinson, Rev. Craig James offered a prayer for the Nation of Israel.  Then Rev. Jack Miller lifted up a prayer for the United States.  Then Rev. Robinson prayed for the State of Louisiana.  Rev. Shaun Garner then prayed for the Parish of Winn.

Organizers expressed their thanks to everyone who joined in the Monday event, “standing in faith for God’s mighty hand to guide our lives,” hoping that it, together with similar gatherings across the nation that same night, might lead to revival.
