Winnfield, LA—-All Winnfield Emergency Response personnel are preparing for the Annual Shop with a Cop on Saturday December 9.

Participating children, nominated by the local schools, will meet at the Winnfield Police Department at 2 p.m., and will be loaded onto Emergency vehicles (Fire Trucks, Police Units, Water Rescue and more) for the 2:30 parade through town to the local Walmart Supercenter.  There, police officers, fire fighters, families and local politicians will assist these youngsters in their shopping for Christmas gifts.

The event is sponsored by the Police Department through a local non-profit organization named “Operation Save a Kid.”  Money is raised throughout the year, mainly from donations from businesses and individuals, as well as boot drives.  This is the 16th year for the Shop with a Cop Program in Winnfield.

Last year 100 kids were given a Christmas they might otherwise not have had.  This year the departments plan to break that record and are prepared for 110 kids so far.

At 3 p.m. the shopping begins. All are welcome to come and enjoy the smiles and Christmas spirit.
