City of Winnfield Issues Boil Advisory

As a precaution, the City of Winnfield Water Department issued a boil advisory on Monday due to a broken main water line. As a result, customers may experience low water pressure or no water at all. This boil advisory is to remain in effect until otherwise noted.

The water boil advisory is issued for the following businesses: Ivan Smith, Wal-Mart, Burger King, Bank of Winnfield, Murphy’s, Rodeway Inn, and Dollar General.

It is recommended that all consumers disinfect their water before consuming or using it. The advisory includes water used for fountain drinks, making ice, brushing teeth, food preparation, or rinsing foods.

Disinfection by the following means: boil water for one full minute in a clean container. The one-minute starts after the water has been brought to a rolling boil. Once the water has been boiled, you may improve the taste of the water by shaking it in a closed container, pouring it from one clean container to another, or adding a small pinch of salt to each quart of water that is boiled.

Consumers should disinfect their water before consumption until otherwise notified.
