CALVIN, La. — On Monday evening, October 19, 2026, Calvin Masonic Lodge No. 431 F&AM gathered with area families, educators, and guests to honor two outstanding local high school juniors with the prestigious Masonic Honesty and Integrity Awards. A total of 28 guests attended the presentation ceremony that evening.
The annual awards program recognizes high school juniors singled out by teachers, peers, and community members for exemplary character, moral uprightness, and dependability.
Worshipful Master Jesse Cox opened the evening, welcoming everyone and introducing distinguished guests. Brother Todd Martin served as keynote speaker, delivering a thoughtful address on the true measure of character in modern life.
“Tonight is not about test scores. It’s not about trophies. It’s not about resumes,” Martin shared during his address. “It is about the qualities that shape a life, strengthen our community, and build trust in a world that needs it more than ever. We are here to honor honesty and integrity—values that sound simple, but take courage to live out every day.”
Martin reminded the students that integrity is not a single accidental moment, but a consistent, daily pattern built upon solid family foundations, faith, and a good upbringing.
“Honesty will earn trust. Integrity will earn respect. Put them both together, and they will earn you opportunities that only good character can unlock,” Martin added. “Who you are is always more important than what you achieve, and our communities need leaders guided by principle.”
Following the keynote, Worshipful Master Jesse Cox and Deputy Grand Master Keith Gates then presided over the presentation of the Honesty and Integrity certificates and commemorative pins to the two student honorees: Kayley Friday and Jaleigha Hobdy.
The presentations carried a special family connection when Calvin Lodge Treasurer Mike Carpenter was called forward to personally present the commemorative pin to his granddaughter, Kayley Friday.
