On Oct. 14, Winnfield Middle School 4H club came together under good energy and capable student leadership to discuss old and new business.
With President Zyah Jenkins presiding and student 4H leaders JM Rouse and Demontrez Sapp handling opening duties, the seventh and eighth grade 4H club meeting got underway. In old business, members reported over 300 jars of peanut butter collected in September for the Food Pantry.
Mr. Donny presented an educational program on food insecurity, noting the United States produces enough food for everyone, but many families cannot afford it and much is wasted.
Junior Leaders forms and fees are due Oct. 31, with the next Junior Leaders meeting set for Nov.13. Outdoor Skills forms and fees are also due Oct. 31. The Fashion and Beyond tour is Jan.19 in Arcadia, the cost is $35. Those interested should contact the 4H office at 318-628-4528.
For new business, the club will collect canned spaghetti sauce in November. For safety and convenience, no glass containers. Donations can be dropped off at the 4H office or a local Winn School.
