To: Winn Parish School Board
This document is to inform that I will be retiring from the Winn Parish School System effective June 30, 2021. I have been fortunate to have had the opportunity and pleasure to serve Winn Parish as district superintendent since July 2000. My tenure as an educator culminates with 47 years of continuous service. I’ve been blessed as a classroom teacher, ag teacher, assistant principal, principal, instructional supervisor, and 21 years as superintendent. I thank this Board for the privilege of working together harmoniously for the children of Winn Parish. I have shared often with my superintendent colleagues throughout Louisiana the positive relationships I have had with “my Board” and our having worked together to improve education services for children. Also, it has been my good fortune to work with a tremendously capable group of educators including teachers, principals, and supervisors, and a support staff second to none. I want to acknowledge the Winn Parish central office staff who have worked tirelessly and with great expe1iise and talent in my support. The central office staff hold tough jobs that require creative talents to find solutions that cannot be found in any textbook or manual. I respect each of these individuals and have enjoyed working with them on a daily basis.
I am optimistic about my retirement and the eventual next phase of my life, but I am saddened about the departing from colleagues and friends that I have worked with so closely. I retire at this time knowing that I have given my best to Winn Parish schools, it’s families, children, and staff. My tenure as an educator will forever be a significant part of who I am.
Again, thank you for the opportunity to serve and the support that you have provided to me and my family. I wish only the best for Winn Parish Schools and look forward to learning of the new heights that you will accomplish in the future.
“I have worked with six boards during my twenty years as Superintendent, some excellent school board members. We haven’t always agreed but you’re not always supposed to in order to get where you’re supposed to be. It’s been an honor, it really has.” said Bartlett.
Following Bartlett’s announcement, the WPSB moved to start advertising immediately for Bartlett’s replacement.
