Winn Parish Police Jury to Declare State of Emergency Ahead of Hurricane Delta Landfall

Winn Parish Police Jury (WPPJ) will file for a state of emergency declaration from the governor’s office later this afternoon due to Hurricane Delta, according to WPPJ president Josh McAllister.

“As of right now we don’t expect any damage from the storm. We are filing for the declaration as a precaution,” said McAllister.

Filing for a state of emergency declaration allows the parish to receive assistance from the state should there be any damage and assistance is required.

“We are monitoring the storm closely but again we aren’t anticipating damage in Winn Parish,” stated McAllister.
