Rotary Club of Winnfield Welcomes Rotary District 6190 Governor

Rotary Club of Winnfield President Jodi Taylor with Rotarian Jane Purser

The speaker for the weekly Rotary Club of Winnfield meeting on Wednesday, August 19, 2020, presided over by President Jodi Taylor, was Zeb Winstead, District Governor of District 6190 for 2020-2021. The District Governor attended the meeting virtually via Zoom Meeting, from his office in Alexandria, Louisiana. Winstead is an attorney in Alexandria. He is also a third-generation Rotarian by marriage, following in the footsteps of his father-in-law and grandfather-in-law.

Winstead spoke about the theme of Rotary International’s president, Rotary Opens Opportunities, and focused on his own belief that service is a gift that gives generation after generation. Both principles being especially pertinent during the COVID-19 pandemic when so many people in every community have many needs. He encouraged the group to develop goals for the year by considering where they want the club to be in five years. And find ways to make Rotary involvement in service opportunities enjoyable and inviting to increase service in the community.

The meeting also included a discussion of the club’s yearly service projects and anticipated fundraising. It was concluded as customary with the Rotary motto, “Service above Self!”

The Rotary Club of Winnfield meets every Wednesday at Noon for lunch at Lynda’s Country Kitchen.
