The Rotary Club of Winnfield was pleased to welcome Winnfield Fire Chief Brian Montgomery as their guest speaker at last Wednesday’s meeting.
Chief Montgomery was the guest speaker for Rotary Club of Winnfield President-Elect, and Rotarian of the week, Jodi Taylor.
In her introduction of Chief Montgomery, Taylor informed The Club that he was born in Shreveport, Louisiana, and has been a resident of Winn Parish since 1996. He started his fire career at the Springhill Volunteer Fire Department in 1992 and has been a member of the Louisiana State Firemen’s Association since 1994. He served on the Beauregard Parish Fire District Fire Department and Rescue Dive Team. As well as worked part-time for the Rural Metro Fire Department at England Air Base in Alexandria. He joined the Winnfield Volunteer Fire Department in 1996 and was hired full time in 1998, where he currently serves as Fire Chief for the department.
Through the LSU-E fire science program, he attended college and holds numerous IFSAC certifications through the LSU Fire and Emergency Training Institute. He is a National Registry Emergency Medical Technician as well as a Lead Evaluator for LSU-FETI in Winn Parish. He is certified in Disaster Management through DHS-Texas A & M Engineering extension service, certified all levels of the National Incident Management System with Emergency Management Institute-FEMA. He also served five years on the Winn Parish Fire District # 3 fire board as vice-chairman.
Chief Montgomery is also a small business owner. He owns and operates Montgomery Vinyl Siding and Construction and B & E Rental Properties LLC of Winnfield. In his free time, the chief enjoys spending time with his family, as well as hunting and fishing, and recreational flying.
He is a licensed ordained minister of the United Pentecostal Church International. He has been the pastor of the Jordan Hill UPC for nearly 24 years. He has been married to Elizabeth Montgomery for 31 years. They have three children, Jessica Montgomery Wooten, Rachel Montgomery, and Jonathan Montgomery. One grandson Jordan Tyler Wooten.
